BOARD OF ADVISORS
ROBERT L. HITCH, CPCU, ARe has over 40 years’ experience in the insurance industry in underwriting and management roles, serving as President and CEO of Mitsui Marine Management USA and prior to that as Divisional President at Great American Insurance Company. As a consultant, he has advised major international insurance organizations on business development, underwriting, and claims. He holds a BS from the University of Kentucky.
ROBERT MALY worked for nine years as a CPA with Ernst and Young followed by 30 years at Great American Insurance Company, a subsidiary of American Financial Group, where he served as a Senior Vice President until his retirement at the end of 2012. During his time at Great American he was involved in starting, acquiring and managing numerous highly profitable specialty business units for the company. Earlier in his career with the company, he ran many of the centralized operations infrastructure of American Financial Group, including IT, billing, claims, and loss prevention.
Mr. Maly has been actively involved on the boards of many non-profit organizations focused on disabilities and services for those in poverty, including the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati, National Down Syndrome Congress, LADD, Cornerstone Corporation for Shared Equity, Insuring the Children and the Freestore Foodbank. He currently serves as the Executive Director of Cornerstone Corporation for Shared Equity on a pro bono basis.
Mr. Maly received his Master of Business Administration (1974) and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (1973) from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. In addition to being a CPA, he is a Certified Property Casualty Underwriter and holds numerous other property casualty insurance certifications.
GORDON BEWICK brings 40 years of Property Casualty insurance brokering experience in the U.K. and U.S.A. He began his insurance career at Sedgwick Forbes London where he was recruited to the New York office as V.P. before advancing to Vice President of Sedgwick James of New England.
Gordon was hired as President of Crump Insurance Services of Boston, and held that position for 10 years before starting Boston Insurance Brokerage in 1999. Today BIB represents over 60 markets nationally and internationally.
JAMES L. ZECH is a co-founder and President of insurance private equity firm High Ridge Capital LLC, and has served in this position since its formation in 1995. Mr. Zech has served as a Director of Max Re Capital, the James River Group, Eastern Insurance Holdings, Front Royal Group, Acordia Inc., Old American Holdings, SelectQuote, Inc., and Insurance Data Systems.
From 1988 through 1995, Mr. Zech was an investment banker covering the insurance industry at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corporation, and S.G. Warburg & Co. Inc. From 1984 through 1988, Mr. Zech served as Corporate Secretary and Counsel, and later as Chairman and CEO, of American Independent Reinsurance Company. From 1982 through 1984, Mr. Zech was a corporate attorney with the New York law firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.
Mr. Zech has a BS in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a JD from New York University School of Law (1982).
